Update on ReStor Lens & Cataract Surgey

Friday, November 13th, 2009

All: I had my left eye repaired approximately 2 months ago with the removal of a cataract and the implanting of a ReStor multi-focal lens and wrote a Blog on September 24. I stated that if it went well I would return for the right eye. It has gone well and I’m one day out of cataract surgery with a replacement ReStor Lens in my right eye. My observations the second time around are: I had a lot less fear; both Dr. Lewis and I learned from the 1st surgery that I needed an anti-nausea drug and less dilation of the pupil; and I had minimal negative surgical effects and no nausea this time around + I suffered no headache this time around– quite frankly, the negative effects of the first surgery were not severe and they all passed within 12 hours. How about the rest of it? My vision in my right eye instantly improved to 20/20 once the patch was removed and I think it is going to get better– the eye is still healing. The two corrected eyes are working perfectly together and I see no transitions from near to far vision. I can read the small print on the back of a Sweet & Low packet with either eye. The first surgery went great but having both eyes corrected is even better. Dr. Lewis enjoys what he does; is successful at it; and I’m better off for it. What do you think, should I take up golf again?

12 10 09 – Update: It has been nearly a month since the 2nd surgery. Everything is doing fine. My vision is as good as it was as a youth and the clarity/definition of images is amazingly sharp. I’m glad I did it.

eye operation results

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009

It is very nice to receive 20/20 with my new lens. no more glasses. very glad to have a progressive eye doctor that made recommendations for implanting my new lens that other doctors are reticent to use. My eye site is a most cherished item and I am glad Dr Lewis was the person I entrusted it to. And the extra cost for his recommendation???- means nothing compared to again, being 20/20
